Title II Accessibility Roadmap
The University community is undergoing important updates to its Digital Accessibility Policy in order to meet the latest requirements of Title II. To ensure a smooth transition and widespread compliance, UMC Digital has initiated a collaborative effort with UIT and several other campus partners. This joint effort focuses on two primary goals:
#1
First: Digital Accessibility Resources
We are committed to providing comprehensive information and resources to the University community regarding the Digital Accessibility Policy Updates. This includes clear explanations of the changes, the rationale behind them, and the implications for various digital content creators and managers across campus.
We aim to ensure that everyone understands the importance of digital accessibility and their role in creating an inclusive online environment for all which is why we are creating a centralized resource for digital accessibility.
#2
Second: Accessibility Compliance Tool
Recognizing that compliance with Title II requires more than just awareness, we are developing a centralized platform to facilitate both auditing and learning. This platform will serve as a hub for all things related to digital accessibility, offering:
Auditing and Testing Tools: Content creators can utilize these tools to evaluate the accessibility of their digital materials, identify potential barriers, and receive guidance on necessary improvements.
Learning Resources: A variety of training materials, tutorials, and best practices will be available to help anyone learn about digital accessibility principles and techniques. Whether you're a faculty member creating course materials, a web developer designing websites, or a staff member producing documents, this platform will provide the knowledge and resources you need to ensure your content is accessible to everyone.
